small office LAN

Workgroup=PC1&PC2

PC1=XP Home Eddition
PC2=XP Pro

Same name for USER NAME
Same password

PC2 =My network palce shows all the members at the LAN .OK
PC1 =My network place shows only PC1
From PC1 ,Access denied to PC2

Do you have some idea to resolve the mistery?

I’ve had trouble sharing folders for awhile now. When I created a folder for sharing on my network I would right-click on it and chose the ‘Sahring and Security’ option.

The ‘Network and security’ sharing option was always disabled. That’s when I relized that I forgot to run the Home Network wizard and to enable ‘printer and file sharing’.

Now its just a matter of going to the Network and Security’ tab and chosing the options to ‘Share this folder’ and ‘Allow network users to change my file’. I’ve been able to access all folders now without the extra step described above.

Both computers have WinXP Pro with NTFS.

Hi There, I have a bit of a problem with NTFS file permissions. I’ve got a folder which I set deny USERS now I can’t change the permissions back again even as an Admin user.

Is there any way to fix this?

hi admin, i’m facing a very swere problem. i was using win xp pro sp3 installed on my computer on c:\. i have my all data in d:\ which is NTFS partition also encrypted. two users were there one was administrator other was Pc User. Pc User have no rights to access the d:\ due to NTFS security permissions which was done by me. i’m the administrator and have rights and access to d:\ and all folders and files inside. Due to my system crash i’ve re-installed the same windows xp sp3. but first i can’t acces the D:\ even with admin account. now i can acces the only D:\ and folders but when i click on any file an error appears and i cannot execute my exe programs, my movies, my docs and other data. i can access alla the folders inside but not the files please help me i’m in great tension pleaeaeaease i’ll be very thankful to you……

This is a GREAT solution. I’ve seen this problem all over the web, but this is the only solution that worked! I had the permissions correct under “Sharing,” but they also have to be correct on the “Security” tab…. THANKS!
