Add Password To Open, View Contents Of Folder In Windows 7 or Later With Lock-a-Folder

by Rohit Khurana on July 11, 2011

Recently we mentioned about an encryption which can help you to encrypt your file which can be decrypted by only you, is you know the passcode which was used to encrypt it. It might be hectic for the users who are not techie or geek, to use that tool, they can use it for sure, but they might not feel comfortable with it at beginning, so here we are with a tool which can be used to lock any of the folder on your system and once locked, you will not have to worry about the locked folders as it cannot be deleted or moved by any means.

There are certain reasons due to which we need to use this tool, now it can be related to hiding some of your official work on your personal system or anything which is private to you and you do not want anyone to see or delete or move that particular folder. You can see the screenshot of the tool mentioned above, when you are going to launch this tool for the first time, and then you will have to set the master password. Do not forget that password because every time when you will launch this tool you will need that password. Launch that tool and then lock any of the folders on your system, press the button highlighted in the screenshot to lock any folder, then you will have to locate that folder.

After locking a folder you will observe that the locked folder has been removed or now it is not visible on the same location. Please do not worry as the folder will again be visible once you unlock that folder. Once you enter the password to launch the tool, then it will not ask for any password while locking or unlocking a folder. So, it is quite simple to use at is will not prompt you for the passwords again and again. The size of this tool is around 500KB and it has been checked with Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate edition. So, if you face any issue then please get back to us.

Hi Xantes,
I hope that you are double clicking the exact locked folder while trying to unlock. Well!!! that’s not how this should be done, please read the post carefully, it is mentioned that while unlocking the folder, first of all you should the Tool and then you will see the name of your folder listed in the middle of the application window. Select that file name and then click the button named ‘Unlock the Selected Folder’.
Once you do so, your folder will be unlocked for sure. We have already tested and used this application.
If you face the same problem again, then you can mail us the screenshot of the error window.

Well I tested it as well and it didn’t unlock the folder no matter what I did! Imagine that I done everything possible and didn’t work! Do you really believe that I am just learning using a computer starting with this applications?!

I had tested the software, the technique used is really im-mature, it simply sets the access rights of EVERYONE to DENY & once you unlock it will set back the rights to ALLOW. Nothing else, its really kiddy.
