Continuing with our series of Ask Troublefixers , here is part 2 of the article on computer problems we published last week. Today also we will pick some common computer problems that may help you.

 

Trouble 1 :

I have to problem in my computer in which the Internet Explorer at the middle just stops and gives an option to send or Don’t send error comes suddenly.   – Nishu

Fix:

Internet Explorer sometimes crashes due to add-on which are active on it. Some add-ons are not well written and may cause errors in Internet Explorer. It will display error like “Iexplore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close” See this article on Internet Explorer crashes.

 

Trouble 2 :

When I open any folder on my computer, it makes two folders of its same name one is detected which is of 523 kb and antivirus delete it but other of 1.23 MB which cannot be healed or deleted by antivirus this folder is of type application 3.1.12.1 . Please provide a better solution to this problem.   – Jaswinder

Fix:

This is a virus called new-folder virus. To fix this virus, see this article on How To Remove New Folder Virus.

 

Trouble 3 :

I am accessing a for sure secure site, probably super encrypted. Army Knowledge Online- official army portal. Certificate Error continue anyway(not recommended) get me there. But its when I try to access the army email that it won’t let me go. I have tried certificate install wizard, internet options to disable everything and still no guess as to what is causing it. Searched web for answers but nobody seems to have it as severe.  – Sunshine

Fix:


This is a problem many of us face due to wrong date settings. Have a look at all the possible reasons and method to fix it here, Security Certificate Error While Opening Web-sites.

 

Trouble 4 :

I have a flash drive,when I copy something in it, and then plug into any other computer it shows nothing.   -  Shair

Fix:

This is a sign of faulty of fake pen drive. You can see more such problems and solutions in out article Solutions to Top 10 USB Pen Drive Problems

 

Trouble 5 :

My computer was infected by virus called "sality.ab" . I have removed virus using quick-heal  antivirus but now all my folder that was previously infected are automatically hidden and "show hidden files & folder " of folder option doesn’t work. I have changed it to "show hidden files" but it automatically come back to "do not show". – Shirish

Fix:

Many Viruses create the problem of hidden files and folder being disabled. This is a way by which viruses keep themselves hidden. But there is a registry hack to fix this problem. Read more about the hack in our article on Folder options disabled by Virus / Trojan.

Re problem #3.

The fix listed is good for general certificate errors, but there is a better answer as the problem specifically asks about AKO.

The problem here is that the US DoD site certificates are signed by internal Certificate Authorities that are not installed in peoples’ browsers by default.

On the AKO front page, next to where you log in, there’s a small FAQ question. The FAQ link “How do I install the DoD Certificate?” has the specific AKO-oriented answer. The FAQ page for this has an explanation of the issue and provides a link to download package that will install the necessary CA certs.

I have windows xp sp2 installed on my computer…I ran a full system scan with my AV “NOD32″ and done a little homework by using antiROOT kits…still facing the same problem…when i boot up my computer it hangs for a good couple of minutes and after that my computer works just fine!
PS i am having this problem on 7 PCs

I have kingston 8GB Pendrive. once i copy any file(s) it stays but when i insert back again all the data gets vanished.

i tried a recovery tool and it retrieved files with *.h2w files.which has completely occupied my pen drive.

I tried formatting but the results are same.
Is there any way to recover and use the pen drive.

My pc configuration is amd 5200+ athlon, 2gb DDR2 zion, ASUS M378A-EM, 250gb sata HDD. Running windows XP sp2.

Problem is when I starting the PC it’s OK. But if i’m restart it, it’s shutdown but don’t restarting .. no beep, the power led is on, hdd led lights for some seconds then its off, and power led of monitor is blinking, cpu fan, smps fan are on.

I check motherboard battery, it is ok.

Is there any solution? pls. help me out!

Respected Sir,

My computer restarts after some hours automatically
when i did trouble shooting i found out there in 1 capacitor swell, from up side it looks like leaking.is that a problem for restarting a computer

Hi,
Well when i turn my pc on before 1-5mins the internet would go off i was wondering what the problem was so i went to the different account on my pc to see if there was anything wrong and the rest of the account had the same problem except for the guest account, when i log into the guest account and i go to internet explorer it says:
” Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website’s domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

For offline users

You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds

Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.

To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)

Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view. ”

but when i go to realplayer it works fine, then i tried playing a game but it said “i wasn’t connected to the internet” and i have a laptop which i use and the internet worked properly considering the fact that it is wireless. So i just wanted to know if you have a solution for me because if you do it would be very appriciated.
P.S if u need to know any more information ask and i will try to answer
