How To Backup, Transfer Modified, Installed Themes In Windows 7

Just in case when you want to re install windows 7 or you might be moving to a new computer, now you might have done several customizations in windows 7 already like different custom themes you might have installed, some of them you might have saved as per the look and feel desired to you, this includes the themes you have saved with some custom names.

Today we will tell you how can you backup or save and then transfer all these themes from one windows 7 computer to other or during re install of operating system.

1. On your old computer running Windows 7 go to the following path

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows

In my case the path was

C:\Users\abhi\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows

as shown in the image below.

2. Copy the Themes folder to a USB Drive to some other location from where you can get it back.

3. Now replace the backup Themes folder with Themes folder on the new computer at the following path again.

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows

All the backup old themes will now be available under Personalize section in windows 7, right click on desktop and then select personalize to change themes as shown in the image below.
