We always have a group of some annoying people who will start poking you as soon as they see you online. Now in Gmail we had a solution to this problem and that solution is known as “getting invisible”, it was difficult to solve this problem in one of the mostly used social networking website facebook. But as always i am here to solve your problem by giving you the simplest remedy and after reading the solution you will know that this option is even better than “invisible” option in Gmail chat.

I will be narrating everything in a very simple and clear manner, just follow the steps in the sequence as they are mentioned below.

  • STEP 1
Click the Friends option present on the left hand side of the screen on the homepage of your Profile. The option has been indicated in the snapshot shown below.

1

  • STEP 2
Now, on the top of the screen you will find the Heading of that page to be named as ‘Friends’ and in front of it you will find an Option named as ‘Create List’.

2

  • STEP 3
A separate window will appear which will ask you to name the new list of friends, for my convenience i named that list as ‘Ignore Friends’, name has to be written in the section indicated in the snapshot below.

  • STEP 4
Then you will have to add the members to this list by entering the their named in the indicated section shown in the snapshot below. Those will be available in the selected tab.

  • STEP 5
Now open the chat list and click the icon which has been marked with the red box in the snapshot.

You can see the change the in the chat list now, this has been shown in the snapshot below.

Now the most important point which you must have noticed that you can be online for the group of friends with whom you would like to chat, Unlike invisible option in the Gmail, which makes you invisible for all the users on the chat list. By the above mentioned method, you and the friends group (which is not ignored), can see each other, whereas in the invisible option, only you can see them. I can see a smile on your face after going through this remedy.

If you have any better solution to this problem, then please do not hesitate in putting down it as a comment, we will be glad to share it with all the other readers.

Have a great DAY!!!!

If you have a lot of friends, but are only interested in chatting with a few, having a friends’ “chat” list can be helpful. This is the opposite of what is mentioned in this article. Basically, you disable chat for all lists but the “chat” list. You may also have to do this if you already have other friend lists (people in the “Ignore Friends” list can still see you if they’re already in other lists).

But generally it happens that we want to ignore some of the friends in the chat list. Hence we solved this problem in our post.
Again I would like to state that we have ignored selected people out of our whole friend list.

Yes, your solution works, but generally only if you do not use other friend lists.

I have multiple friend lists. A given friend can be on one, two, or more lists. If I have a “bad friend” that I want to hide from chat, you method will only work if “bad friend” does not exist on other lists. If “bad friend” exists on other lists, I have to disable those lists, too. For this case, it doesn’t make sense to have an “Ignore Chat” list, as I have to also disable the other lists, in addition to “Ignore Chat”. If I do that, I end up blocking most of my other friends, in addition to “bad friend”. For me, it makes more sense to have a “Chat with friends” list.

Actually, the main purpose of my solution was how to be invisible on chat-list.
So, How should a user create that ‘Ignore chat-list’ depends upon the number of Friends you want to ignore. As you have many friends to ignore on a chat-list, so they all be present in different chat-list. So, you can delete those friends from all the other lists and then add collectively in a list (IF IT FEASIBLE), else your solution rocks.
Thanks for your helpful comment.

A member I want to delete from a Facebook Group is not showing up on the members list. And he keeps taunting and abusing the group asking us Admins to remove him, which we can’t because he is not showing up on the member list. And it seems like he is adding more vicious members to the group now and they are abusing members. The admins have reported to FB and when we block them we are not able to see their posts but the remaining group members can, and it’s even tougher then! What is happening?
