If, you want that in your absence if anyone tries to access any of the application on your system, then you will not have to go for installing any application for the required purpose. The only with the application are, if anybody finds out the application which is not allowing them to access the applications then they can easily uninstall them or corrupt them, but if you try to do the same by configuring your system settings then it will hard to detect.
In this post we will tell you about a way with the help of which you can restrict any user using your desktop to use a certain number of applications. Just follow the steps mentioned below.
- Click on Start button and then in the Search Field write “gpedit.msc”, now you will see an application window as mentioned below in the screenshot.
- Now on the left Hand side of the windows, navigate down to ‘User Configuration/Administrative Templates/System’, now on the right hand side you will an option named ‘Run Only Specified Windows Application’ (as specified in the screenshot above).
- Double Click the option highlighted in the screenshot, you will see a window as mentioned in the snapshot below. Now, click the ‘Enable’ radio button and then click the button ‘Show’ as highlighted in the snapshot below.
- Now you will see another window, which is supposed to list all the names of the application which are allowed to run on your computer. Write the name of those applications in front of that start icon and then close that window. You might need to restart your system as it should starting from the very instant you save those settings.
You can keep the list and whenever you want to put this feature in effect then you can just enable the option as mentioned above and thus you the user will only use the applications mentioned above in the list. We have tried this tutorial on Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate edition, if you face any problem while following the steps then please let us know.
