Trouble:

This time, for a change, I want to share a problem I am myself facing for last couple of days. Firefox starts to hang whenever I open Gmail Inbox. It is really a pain when I am so addicted to Gmail and Firefox both. The strange thing is that Microsoft Internet Explorer is working comparatively better with Gmail.

See the Snapshot below, whenever I click on Inbox, the CPU usage shoots to 100 % and Memory usage is already higher than normal.

Lets see the work-around to save ourselves from such hangs.

Trouble:

One of our readers reported a problem saying: “I always receives ActiveX warning when ever I try to play any flash animations form cd or hard disk location“.

If you are unaware about the problem see the snapshot given below.

When this problem appears it displays a new window (as shown in the image above) in the containing this message given below:

“To protect your security,Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer.Click here for options…“

You may check the option which says: “Do not show this message again” checkbox and click OK then the page will display without ActiveX content.

Note: In short all the .swf files or flash animations are ActiveX controls which Internet Explorer blocks before playing.

Last night when I was checking my emails at home, my broadband connections was disconnecting again and again. I use an MTNL triband broadband connection using ADSL technology with a UT star modem (model UT-300R2U). When I Googled for the same, I came to know that this problem is very common among various broadband services like BSNL data one, Airtel Broadband. I tried to find out the main reasons and the solutions. Let me present you the summary of my research with troubles and its fixes.

Why disconnection happens frequently ?

Some of the possible reasons are:

1. Poor line quality (lots of noise in phone line)
2. Faulty Splitter
3. ISP side issues (issue at service provider’s end)
4. Synchronization problems
5. Faulty Router / ADSL modem equipment
6. Improper connection with splitter

There may be more reasons, but these are the most common reasons for disconnection and reconnection again and again. Lets see how to find and fix the trouble.

Trouble:

We have received many problems in which some sites are not reachable on bsnl dataone or mtnl broadband connection. I myself faced such problem on my own connection. It may has happened with you sometime, when you are not able to access some of the web sites on the other hand all other webs sites are opening properly.

Most common reason for this is wrong dns server entries in your LAN connection properties, or sometimes the DNS server entries might be correct but due to certain errors, the DNS servers used by your connection are not able to locate the web-pages that are not visible to you.
