by Abhishek Bhatnagar on January 16, 2010

Every time you install a tool or software on your computer, it makes several entries in program files, windows registry and in Windows Startup. Not all softwares add a startup entry, but many of them do.

With time the number of startup tasks becomes large and this slows down your Windows Computer booting time. In this article I will review a tool called Startup Discoverer which can display each of the startup tasks classified by the type of startup tasks.

You can simply download and run this portable tool called Startup Discoverer. On running this tool it will show you a set of icons, each will filter the startup programs based on the type of startup programs.

You can also print the list if you want. After analyzing the startup processes, if you feel like removing any of these tasks from startup to make your computer boot up faster, you can follow out tutorial – Computer Is Slow At Startup, Takes Too Long To Boot

Beware – Do Not Remove Any System task like Winlogon.exe etc else windows may not boot again.
