Windows is a fairly popular operating system running on a large numbers of computers around the world, no wonder we find hundreds of new softwares and utilities for Windows shared by developers who come up with innovative solutions and tricks. Recently I came across a very interesting tool called the File Activity Monitor developed by ITknowledge24.com. This tool is very interesting, it shows you each and every file related activity happening on a hard disk in the real time. There can be many uses of this tool like on a shared PC, or a network PC, it can show what all files are being modified, opened, created, delete etc. and that too in real time. Some other applications may include detecting any malicious changes happening on the hard disk. There can be many more uses to this application.

This is a very lightweight tool which is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and works on both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows. It is a portable tool and does not require any installation. You can run this on any Windows PC direct from a pen drive or a CD. One small disadvantage though is that it is hard-coded to monitor changes happening on the C: Drive only and you can’t change its configuration. This is Beat version 1.0, so maybe in future the versions will allow you to select the drive you like to monitor or keep a check on. If anyways, you want to monitor only C Drive in Windows, then there should be no trouble.
The tool also gives you notification balloons in the system tray and the Windows gets updated automatically in the real time. On doing repetitive right click on the tool’s icon in the tray, it threw some error and crashed also during my test on this tool, which is fine since it’s a Beat version. But what this tool does is quite useful in many scenarios. We hope you will find it useful for monitoring file changes on C Drive of your Windows PC.
