Check, Find Windows OS Version

There are times when you may need to find out the version of windows you are using, the version of windows tells you which windows build you are using with some details about the same. This information could be used to find whether there were some bugs in the windows os build you are using on your computer and then you can get the patches for the same if you are not running windows update not using genuine windows.

Here is how you can find out the version of windows, follow the procedure below.

1. Open Start menu >> run and type msconfig and then press ok button or press enter on the keyboard


2. Now, it will open system configuration – click on the tools tab



3. Now select About Windows entry in tools and click the launch button, to know the windows version and its build version.


Note: The above procedure to find the windows version number works for vista and windows 7

hello:) just use “winver” run command, works on win2k and above
