Desktop Client For Gmail And Google Reader Notifications

Lots of mail servers are available over web but still Gmail is probably the best and most popular among the masses. The reason for so much popularity is the ease of use, security, innovative features like high quality voice and video chat, and much more. You must have used Microsoft Outlook or Windows Live which gets integrated with your Windows and watch your mailbox without opening a separate window for them.


So today we are going to tell you about a desktop client tool named GWatchman using which you can have a watch over your Gmail account. This tool will notify you about the status of your Gmail account automatically after regular time interval. So you won’t need to open Gmail again and again to check for new mails. Although there are some similar tools available over web like Spiffy or Scott’s Gmail Alert, but this tool is better than all because it not only supports Gmail but even supports Google Reader.

So the best advantage of this tool is supportability of two services (i.e Gmail and Google Reader). Am sure you must use these services frequently. The another advantage is its easy functioning and integrity with windows. This tool automatically pin itself in the system bar and shows you updates about your account after every desired time interval.

This is the screenshot of mail window. So at main widow you will need to provide your User name and Password. Don’t panic at all in entering your personal information as this tool is absolutely safe to use. You can even click on Remember my login and password option if you want this tool to save your information so that you won’t require to enter it every time you run this tool.


Now the next step is to enter the time duration for both Gmail and Google Reader. Actually this is the time duration after which you want this tool to automatically synchronize which the mail server and give you status of your account i.e New Unread messages. Time duration available is from 30 seconds to 3 hour. Once done with it, click on Apply.

You can see the screenshot to see below how this tool works. As you can see, it will show a pop up window at just above your system tray after every desired interval showing the status of your mail server. You can click on this window and then this tool will directly link you to your mail. Hence it will keep a watch over your Gmail account automatically.

You can even change the location of this pop up window to any desired part of your desktop. To change its location, click on Alert and then from adjusting the Vertical and Horizontal Positions you can change the position of this pop up notification. You can even set the opacity level for this notification.

The size of GWatchman is just 273 Kb and this tool requires no installation and you will need to click on its EXE file to directly run this tool. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 Ultimate-32 bit edition.
