Problem: The mouse freezes and the screen seems to have come to halt and also keyboard does not respond as well.
This is generally a computer hang. Main reasons behind the PC hangs are:
Why Computer Hangs?
1 Overheating of processor / Motherboard. If the cooling fan is faulty, the processor gets heated up and ceases to work beyond a particular temperature.
2 Faulty hard disk drive.Hard disc problems also hangs the computers in case the important Operating System files needed to keep the computer running, become in-accessible.
Solutions : To Fix the PC hangs (computer hang problem),you need to follow two steps:
Step1: Check that the cooling fans on the processor is working properly or not. So ensure that the fan is working fine and is clean. If not, then get the fan replaced. Also check for the additional fans on your computer casing/cabinet(if any).
Step2: To Fix this, run a disk scan which checks for disc errors and fixes the bad sectors (some examples are scandisk and checkdisk utilities in windows). If there are bad sectors which can not be repaired, then you need to replace your hard disc.
Tip for enhanced performance: Once there are no bad sectors and the disc scan is complete, do a de-fragmentation of your hard disc partition(this may take long time), it will help the computer to access files easily and computer runs better(also fast in some cases).
These three steps will fix your computer hangs considerably.

I’m having this hanging problem with my PC. My question is: If I run a check disk/ disk scan, with there be a possibility of my data or any saved files getting deleted or that my OS be corrupted?

i format the cpu.. still hang if i play video, play cabal and play window media player
while starting windows it shows the affected viruses and the system will not be in logon even until the viruses to delete

hello, i m a laptop gamer bcoz my desktop is even older than my laptop.
my laptop is core2duo and ram 3 GB and i still have issues with my computer hanging after (i really meant it) terminating an internet game. the fan is spinning madly with loud sounds so i think its overheating that causes it? coz sometimes although i dun run the game long enough, it still hangs…
i m scared that if this phenomena will corrupt my datas…

i scanned my hard disk since no errors found , formatted my hard disk , fan is working propely .. but the pc still hangs .. moreover installed windows 2 times but cant get solution anyone can help m fed up wid working up with pc..

My computer is 5 years old, last month hard disk is damaged. I changed the new hard disk(IDE), after OS installation sstem produce too noise. Sometimes computer restarts automatically. Pls help me to solve the problem.

My laptop HP Compaq is hung after I connected to internet today. The message on top left was “Internet Explorer (not responding). The end task window does not come on pressing ctrl-alt-delete keys. also the start icon does not respond which means I cannot use the restart option. So I had to use the shut down by keeping the power switch pressed for a few seconds.
On re switching on, it boots alright & all desktop icons appear but clicking the mouse on any of the icons is non responsive & so I cannot operate my laptop for any purpose.

i was disappointed after format my Pc coz it was still hang even i changed heatsink… im also changed RAM but it was still not working, I rmved my fan n processor bt gets hang.still..What can i do???…;(.. how to check motherboard if it bad sectors
