Even im troubled with firefox hanging when using gmail…i click on a mail and it keeps frozen at loading for a long time….i compose and try to send a mail and its “working” for some time…and “still working” for long long time!
Even i had the same feeling..i google trying to make us use chrome? cause trying chrome seemed like the only answer i could come up with given that i hate using IE…

I, too, wonder if this isn’t Google acting like MS to get us to switch to Chrome. I’m running FF 3.0.7 and gmail still hangs quite often at the very end of its initial load.

switch to older version for time being….none of the below helps

Clearing cache help temporarily,I was able to get to my G-Mail account,but after login out and login into another G-Mail account,I encounter the same problem.
Seems that clearing cache is temporary solution at best

Hey,

Well i have the same problem and gmail hands in both internet explorer as well as firefox…In IE i cannot change my tabs once m in gmail and in firefox, i cant close it.
Well see i think it should be because of add ons. Go to tools > Add-ons > check both plug ins and extensions. For me i had to disable the google talk plugin.

yeah, cache works. i wonder if google is turning into an evil empire like microsoft, making its applications run poorly on non-chrome browsers. i really hope not

clearing the cache has worked for me as well. thanks guys. just another thing, i’m not able to load the gtalk gadget. not sure if something’s wrong with my settings, coz i’ve been facing this problem just today, or somethings wrong with the google people

Clearing the cache fixed the problem for me as well. Thanks Amanda! This was driving me nuts!
