how about this one: the last time my pc was used, it was fine. no viruses at all, and i haven't done anything with it out of the ordinary. i went out of town for a week and came back and the pc's monitor just won't work. the cpu seems to be working, the lights blink as if it is busy loading windows and updating its antivirus and all. so as the lights of the mouse and keyboard. the monitor, well, it's led was green then i heard this soft click and then it turned orange. the screen was just black all throughout. i turned off the pc thru the keyboard (win button+u+u) and there was the signing off tune.
i tried switching it with a working monitor, but still the same problem occurred.
there's just no way of getting into the BIOS settings.
could it be the video card? btw, this pc is kinda old (4 yrs).

@Kaushal

It seems like you have mistakenly disturbed some other setting in BIOS which is preventing your computer from booting. Open the BIOS and set it to default settings, save changes and exit. This should boot your computer.

Hi,

I followed this procedure, and the pc started fine. But after I shut it down, it won't boot up at all now.

The monitor remains black, and its green light turns orange after a few seconds (probably indicating it has gone into the standby mode.)

I tried to see if the xp start up sound comes up so that I can be sure whether it's something with the monitor or the pc. I don't hear any start up sound either.

The keyboard seems to be on (the lights are on) and so is the mouse.

What could be the issue?

Thanks for all the help
