How To Remove Rogue or Fake Anti-Spyware WinDefender 2009

Recently one of my friends contacted me on Gtalk and told me that there was some anti-spyware encountered when she was browsing Internet. Suddenly she got alerts saying that her computer is severely infected or being attacked. These alert ask you to download and install Windows Defender 2009 to remove the infections caused to your computer.

WinDefender 2009 will scan your computer and display a number of malwares that cannot be removed without purchasing the software. You must ignored this as these are fake tactics to take your money, WinDefender 2009 is a fake anti virus which will try to steal your money this way.

It creates the following registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinDefender2009
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WinDefender 2009
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "WinDefender2009"

and creates these associated files with WinDefender 2009 are

On the scanner screen click show results button and click the remove selected button to remove all the listed malwares.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware will now remove the malware WinDefender 2009 and you can exit Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and restart your computer you will not see WinDefender 2009 on your computer again.
