Portable Document Format (PDF) is an open standard for document file which is created by Adobe Systems in 1993. This file format is use to represent a fixed-layout of 2D documents that includes text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics etc. Recently Acrobat 3D has also been developed using which one can embed 3D drawing in PDF format. The best advantage of PDF file is that it is the only available format which has added security features.
Sometimes you may require to split/merge any PDF file which could be very lengthy like eBooks which are normally very lengthy. But unfortunately there is no inbuilt option available in Adobe Reader to split/merge PDF file. So the only possible solution to this problem is by using a simple tool named PDF Split Or Merge. As the name suggests, it is a very powerful freeware which can split/merge any PDF file in any number of parts.
You are just required to follow four simple steps to use this tool. This tool is specially designed for novice users and it even has a very simple graphical interface. When you double click on the installation file of this tool, you will see a cmd Window as shown above. This is the main window of this freeware. As you can see above, there is a drop box given in the center of the main window from where you are required to choose the action you want to perform. Select any desired action from the drop box.
This free version allows only to Split/Merge files. For doing actions like Insert/Delete/Re0order Pages, you are required to PDF Workshop from the developers website. So select any option and then click on Next in the bottom right screen to proceed to next step.
On Step 2 you are required to click on Browse and then select the file(s) which you want to split/merge. Once selecting the desired file, click on Validate to ensure that this tool could perform the desired task on that particular file. If your PDF file is password protected, then you are required to enter the password when you click on Validate.
Click on Unblock and then click on Next to proceed to next step. At Step 3 you are required to specify the range of pages you want to split. Click on From and then choose the starting limit from where you want to cut the file and then click on To to choose the end limit of the file. Once you have set bot the limits, click on Next to proceed to final step.
In the final step, you are required to choose the location where you want to save the Output file(s). Once you choose any location, it will display a green tick mark and then you are required to choose the name of Output file(s). There are lots of options available for Output file naming. So choose and desired format and then click on Next to start processing this tool and this tool will then perform the desired task in a very short span of time.
The size of PDF Split Or Merge is 8.15 Mb and still it will not take much time to get installed and as usual it will create a desktop shortcut which can be used to access this freeware. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 ultimate-32 bit edition.
