Manage File Types, File Extensions and File Associations In Windows

by Rohit Khurana on December 26, 2010

Today I am here with a tool which can take care of all the fileĀ  extension available on the system. Generally there are certain extensions in the systems, which do not have any default application to be executed and they are also not equipped with a particular icon. But this tool will take care of them by editing them and allotting them a perfect icon. You can this tool as ExtMan.

You can see the snapshot the tool where we have highlighted the button in the snapshot. The default language of this application is German, so if you want to use that application in US English then you can switch to English with the button highlighted in the snapshot. You can edit an extension and thus allot them a particular option whenever they are executed; this tool will allot them a particular application which will execute them every time when you will double click them. The snapshot of the option is shown below.

You can allot them a particular option and you can also assign them with a particular icon. Despite these features you can also delete any particular extension or you can also create a new extension for your system. You can also create the backup of all our changes (the option is available at the right hand side bottom of the application window) and then whenever you will to go to default then you can use this backup file to revert back to the default setting of your system.

The size of this tool is around 500KB and moreover this tool is portable so just carry it with you in your USB drive. This tool will really help if you do have lots of extension I your system to manage. So, go for using this tool and please do write us, if you face any problem while installing or working with this tool, just put down your comments in the comments sections and we will revert back in the same section. We might be able to help you as we have already used this tool. This tool is expected to be compatible with all the versions of Windows as it has been checked with Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate edition. I hope that you will like this tool, keep reading and have a nice day.
