Monitor Internet Usage Of Different Programs On Your Computer

You can improve the overall security of your system by regularly checking all the TCP/UDP connections. These TCP/UDP connections are established by number of the installed applications like antivirus software, web browsers etc. These programs basically tries to communicate with servers over internet or over local network. Manually checking them is very time consuming.

So there are various tools available over web using which you can see all the application and services that tries to create connections with local servers or other computer. So today we are going to tell you about one such tool named MooO ConnectionWatcher. This is a freeware utility that allows you to have a watch on TCP/UDP connections on daily basis and get detailed information regarding them.

This is the main window of this utility. The best part is that this application is available as a portable program and installer and it will display the complete information of all the programs in a very easy graphical interface. This tool displays the information in form of columns which is pretty easy to read. Each connection is listed in a particular row and then all the detailed information regarding that connection is shown under respective column.

As you can see above, at the main window the first column is of Protocol i.e either TCP/UDP. Next is the state of that particular connection i.e whether it is Established or it is Listening. Next is Process ID which is generally the identification number of every process. Next column displays the name of Process. Next two columns tells whether connection is Local or not and also about Local Port. Similarly next two columns tells information about Remote and Remote port.


Last three columns tell the information about the amount of data which is send or received by particular connection and time Duration of the activation of that particular connection.

To close or kill any connection, simply right click on that particular connection and then click on desired action. Using right click, you can even Open Web Page or Locate the Program or even Disconnect it. The status bar at the bottom displays the number of TCP/UDP connection, and amount of data which is received or sent.

From the View option, given at top of main window, you can customize the general settings of this program like you can change the Refresh Frequency duration or change durations for Logs and some other settings of this tool. You can even save the log of the displayed information for the future references. In nutshell, it is a very handy and useful application to monitor the internet and other local network connections.

The size of MooO ConnectionWatcher is 3.20 Mb and still it will not take much time to get installed and as usual it will create a desktop shortcut which can be used to access this freeware. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 Ultimate-32 bit edition.
