There are many readers and users who tried windows 8 consumer preview released recently, since the release of windows 8 consumer preview we have written many tips and tricks on windows 8, from the start on how to install windows 8 we wrote till how long you can use windows 8 consumer preview version.
Recently we got another question from one of reader who asked the solution to a problem as “he is not able to boot on windows 7 after installing windows 8 in dual boot, as boot loader time to show the operating system is too short that he cant select the windows 8, and windows 8 boot by default”.
After some searching we found out a solution in which you can make windows 7 to boot by default if you don’t touch the keyboard or press any keys at the time of windows starting up. This setting you can easily configure from windows 8.
In order to configure this you will need to boot in windows 8 and once you are logged in, follow the procedure below.
1. Press Windows Key + R to open run prompt
2. Type msconfig and press enter key.
3. Under system configuration settings find the tab named startup and you will see the boot loader entries there, select windows 7 Os entry and click the button Set as Default Os to set it to boot automatically unless user press a keyboard key and select the OS to boot in.
Now click apply and restart, your PC will start in windows 7 by default.
