Free Audio Extractor is a simple and handy tool that allow you to extract/convert entire or parts of your FLV, MP4, AVI, WMV, ASF, MOV, MP3, WMA, M4A, AAC, WAV, MP2 files and save it to Mp3, Ogg, Flac format. It is compatible with windows 7, vista and xp.
The application when installed will appear like this. The main window is easy to use. At first, you just have to add the file by using the option provided in the top window. You can also drag and drop video /audio files in the space to save the time.
The program offers a visual audio timeline at the bottom that you can use to extract only a portion of the video. It also provides built-in playback function to verify your selection. You can also set the output file format either mp3, wav, ogg or flac.
You can also set the settings accordingly in the option ‘parameters’ which will show a new window with different tabs. In ‘general’ tab, you can select the output folder where you want to store your extracted audio file and its format.
Other tabs are for respective settings of the chosen format which is basically for advanced users and can be avoided by beginners.
After doing the settings, you just have to select the desired portion or the entire song from the timeline and select ‘save’ in the option ‘file’ which will start the process of extraction and the progress will be shown in the progress status in front of the song selected.
You can see the saved audio files from the application only by using the option ‘Saved files’ in the main window.
This tool also work as a cutter for audio/video files and can be really helpful in cutting your favorite song for ringtone or for cutting a clip for making some video and other stuff.
