There are times when you are hard drive from which you would like to recover the deleted data, lost partitions or get the data from formatted partitions on the drive.  We have already reviewed a bootable RIP Linux Which helps you do the same. In this post, we will review another tool.

MiniTool Partition Recovery is a Free Partition Recovery Software for Windows, it works with all the versions on windows including windows 7. It can recover lost and deleted partitions from  IDE disk, SATA disk, SCSI disk and Removable disk. The partition recovery function can retrieve the lost partitions quickly & easily.

It supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system. It runs under 32/64bit Windows 2000 Pro./XP/Vista/Window 7. It’s a must-have partition recovery software and free for home users but its not free for commercial use.

Follow the procedure below to recover the data lost or deleted partitions

1. Run the software and then select the disk which contains the lost partitions, and then click Next button to continue.

There are three scanning rage modes :
Full Disk
Unallocated Space
Specified Range

Normally, we recommend you choose “Full Disk” and then click Next button.

There are two scanning methods as you can see in the image above and you can choose one according to your need and click next.

With a few minutes, MiniTool Partition Recovery could find your lost/deleted partitions. And then you could choose the recovered partitions and click Finish.

if you have re-installed windows on the same drive partition, the data may have been completely lost.

check for the presence of Windows-Old or Windows0 etc. for any traces of folder which are present from previous installation. Also you can check if any folder has creation date of older than the date when you re-installed windows.

If you find it, go to Users > [your username on old Windows] and try to get your previous data from there, but again, it might be encrypted, so good luck !
