Save Snippet Of A Webpage In Google Chrome To Refer Later

by Rohit Khurana on November 17, 2010

In our daily tight schedule, we want everything in short and easy so that we can do more work in less time. With the latest technology, we do not have to put much effort in doing the things which can be handled by them.

Lets say, while browsing for a particular topic on internet, we come across various websites which provide some of the information about it. So, most of us usually save the page as it is or copy the important part and paste it on a word document for later use. But, sometimes i wonder that can’t i put the clip on the webpage i like just like i do while reading a book.

And, luckily, i found this extension called Webclip which will help us save the snippet of a webpage to a Google document easily. This extension will help us know about any web page easily by just having a look at its snippet. It also save the time wasted in previous method of copy & paste. When you will install it, it will ask you the access to your data on all websites and to your browsing history. You just have to click ‘Install’.

It will only create problem when run in incognito window because Google chrome will not be able to prevent this extension to save the browsing history in incognito window. So, take care of it.

It will be installed in just a few seconds with this icon in the toolbar menu.

Now, for saving any snippet using webclip, you just have to select the text and click on the icon. For the first time, this will open a new tab where it will ask you to login to the Google documents where it will save the selected text.

Now, if you will grant the access then, it will open your Google documents and will show a file of webclip. When you will open the file, you can see the selected text saved on it just like this.

It also notifies you of its presence on Google docs with this notification message.

This snippet can be used later for any purpose you want. The extension creates a bit of problem like opens many tabs when used first time. Also, its notification message comes more than required. Otherwise, it does it work properly. So, give it a try yourself and do let us know your views in the comment section about it.
