[Security] Make Internet Explorer Less Vulnerable By Removing Expired Cookies

by Rohit Khurana on December 14, 2011

As we all know cookies are the small files that store data about your website preferences and session information. All the cookies have an expiration date which is usually set by the webmaster of the website that you visit. The expiration date of the cookies can range from seconds, minutes, days to years. Once the cookies expire they cannot be used by the domain on which they were  created. Expired cookies are not only useless to the site but they are also useless to the users.

After getting expired cookies may be of no use to the user as well as the website but they can be compromised into leaking the private information about the user to the third parties in case they get access to your computer through a virus or a spyware. So today I have got a software named Expired Cookies Cleaner for you which will help you to delete the expired cookies. Now deleting the expired cookies is possible in almost all the browsers except Internet Explorer. So this application will help you to delete the expired cookies from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Expired Cookies Cleaner

This is the first window that will open when you will run the software for the first time after downloading and installing it. The software doesn’t require installation and will run directly from the exe file. After you will run the software you will see a Process button on the software window and after you press that button the application will process all the cookies that are stored on the system. After the processing of the cookies is done the software will display all the cleaned cookies in a log in a application window.

A summary will also be displayed about this process at the end which will display the total number of cookies in the system and the number of expired cookies. The software will delete the expired cookies from the system or from the individual cookie files if the file contains some cookies which are still not expired.  You can also run the software without the GUI from the command prompt. The command for executing the application is C:\<Path of the software>\ExpiredCookiesCleaner.exe which will save the output in a file. You can also replace a filename parameter with null if you don’t want the output file. The software is compatible with all the version of Windows from Microsoft and also with all versions of the Microsoft Internet Explorer.
