Shutdown or Log Off Your Computer Remotely Via Internet

by Rohit Khurana on July 7, 2010

We generally worry about our electricity bills while working on our systems for a long period of time. Sometimes we also forget to switch off our systems and many a times we are supposed to keep our systems ON for the files to get downloaded. I have a solution to share with you which is named as Airytec Switch Off and I must say that you should give it a shot.

This software is very light in size and it does not require any installation, it will just be seen at the tray of your taskbar and from there you can use it. It can perform the following operations with your system :

  • Shutdown
  • Restart
  • Log Off
  • Hibernate
  • Sleep
  • Lock
  • Close Dial-up

As you can see from the snapshot that even after clicking the minimized icon on the tray, it does not open into an application window but it continues to be operated from the tray itself. It can schedule its operation on various bases like it will close down your system everyday at a specific period of time or it may do this weekly, you can start the countdown whenever your system is idle. It can also start a countdown for which your system will be switched ON.

One of the best features about this tool is that you can also have a remote access to this tool from any other system on your network, but for that you will have to configure the port settings of your remote connection in the ‘option’ tab of this tool as shown in the snapshot below.

It can also force the other applications to shutdown. You can also change the language of this tool or download the pack of different languages. If you want to make some general changes in this tool like notification time period, sound of the notification etc. then you can do it with the help of setting under ‘General’ tab of options. Once you enable this tool it will automatically perform its pre-defined operation.

Next time whenever you forget to switch off your system then you won’t repent it if you have Airytec Switch Off installed on it. This tool is compatible with all the version of Windows, especially with 64-bit operating systems as these features has been verified on Windows XP and Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate edition.
