Trouble:

Some of the Windows Vista users have been facing Black Screen of Death during boot up process of Windows Vista after installing Service Pack 2 / Windows Server 2008 Edition.

This kind of problem occurs due to a deadlock between two system files of Windows Vista during start up. Earlier there has been similar issue observed with Windows 7, see this solution for Windows 7 – Fix Windows 7 Black Screen Of Death

In this article I will share the solution to Windows Vista SP2 Black Screen Problem problem.

Fix:

This problem occurs because of a dead lock between two system files of Windows Vista and this issue has been resolved and pushes as a patch in Windows Update of Windows Vista. So if you have your Windows Update off , you might be facing a problem because of not having this patch which fixes the issue.

You can manually download and Install the Windows Vista Hotfix from Microsoft to fix this issue. We recommend to install this fix even if you are not facing this issue and your Automatic Windows update is turned off. This will save you from any future inconvenience.

This would be great if there was a way I could install the hotfix from command prompt in the installation repair section. All I get is black screen and cursor. Sticky keys and all the other stuff does not work. I fear I have the true BlacK Screen Of Death…..
