Trouble:
Is Hibernate options missing from your Windows Vista Start Menu?
Windows Vista Power Options are different from Windows XP wherein you could simply enable and disable Hibernate options from Windows Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate settings
There is no such simple setting windows in Power options of Windows Vista. In this article we share a method to restore Hibernate option in Windows Vista Start Menu.
Fix:
Follow these steps to enable Hibernate option in start menu of Windows Vista:
1. Press “Window Key + r” or go to Start > Run to launch Run Prompt. Type “cmd” and press enter to open Command Prompt.
2. On the command Prompt windows, type the following two command in order:
- powercfg /hibernate on
- powercfg -h on
That is it, its done. Now you can see and use Hibernate Option in Windows Start Menu as seen below:

I followed the steps you have given but my pc is saying that
“You dont have a permission to enable or disable hibernate feature”
What do i do now??
Please tel me the solution

u need to loging with a user who has administrator rights.
Goto Start->All Programs->Accessoires, Right-Click on Command Prompt and select “Run As Administrator”
I did what is says and it hibernation is on but it still doesn’t show on the start menu power options
