Windows comes preloaded with a lot of utilities like system tools and accessories which are capable of fulfilling al your requirements for daily computing. Like all the other things in the world your computer is also prone to some bugs which can cause these things to create problems in their working. It is really frustrating when things of such sort happen specially when you have all the data stored in these applications and they refuse to startup.

So many users have been facing problems with a few of event related applications from windows like the task scheduler, event calendar and Messenger Sharing folders. Most of the time the solution to these problems is very easy and it can be dealt with a little research, so here we are with a probable solution that will take care of this problem which is faced whenever you startup one of these applications.

One of the reasons for this problem can be that Windows event log service is not running and here is what you need to so to fix that up.

  1. To enable the service Right click on Computer>Manage>Services & applications>services.
  2. Again right click on Windows Event Log Service>Properties
  3. Ensure that Startup Type is set on Automatic and the services is Started and that it runs in the Local Service Account.
  4. Also ensure that all three drop down boxes in the Recovery tab are set to Restart the Service in case of failure.

If the event log still does not start and you get the error : System cannot find the file specified

Open the folder C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs This folder contains logs in .evtx format and you can view them with the event viewer. Give this folder read – write access and that should help solve the problem.

If still the problem persists go to  :

Start>Search Menu>sfc/scannow>rt click on result> run as administrator this will open log file entries that sfc.exe generates and you can find out how to analyze this data in vista here.

We hope that  all these steps will definitely help you out in resolving this problem.
