Switch Between Installed Operating Systems With A Simple Click

by Rohit Khurana on September 12, 2010

In today’s world, when there are various versions of Windows available in market with their different promising features, most of us have two or more operating systems installed in our computer. But it is a tedious work to switch between them for different purposes.

We have to restart our computer and again have to select different operating system on which we want to work. But there is a smart utility called Restart 1.56 which will allow us to do this with just a click and in less time.

When installed in your system, it will appear as an icon in the notification area as shown.

It works on Windows 98, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP and 2003 Server.

NOTE: This program works in conjunction with the the Microsoft boot manager only, and it is not compatible with other third-party products.

This system utility also provides the basic options of ‘Shut down’, ‘Stand by’ and ‘Hibernate’.

It also provides the Advanced options of ‘Schedule’ in which you can schedule your computer to either restart, shut down or hibernate. You also have the option of forcing the processes which will be running at particular time. Also, you can see the warning message for the specified time( may be 30 seconds).

You can also personalize your double-click whether to shut down, restart or schedule your computer by the option ‘double-click’. For example if you select the ‘disabled’ then whenever you will double-click on the icon, this utility will get disabled.

This new version has an added feature of enabling/disabling the program from running at start-up. If the tick will not appear at ‘run at startup’ at shown in the snapshot it means it is disabled and will not run at the start up.

It also provides the option of maintaining default setup and sorting the list by the respective options of ‘Maintain Default’ and ‘Sort List’. You can also use the ‘simplified menu’ option which will hide the ‘shut down’, ‘hibernate’ and ‘stand alone’ options and after which the icon menu will appear like this.

This new version has also fixed bug that caused the -f command line option to display a diagnostic message.

In short, it is a smart and compact utility of great use which will save our lot of time. So, thumbs up for it..!!
