This is part 14 of the Ask Trouble Fixers series, we have picked up five questions from the emails we have received from our readers.

Trouble 1 :

When my pc gets started the desktop shows an error message every time
-"D:/windows/eksplorasi.exe" file is missing. How to get rid of this? – Rajish

Fix:

This problem occurs due to remaining registry entries for missing executable files which are usually viruses removed by your antivirus softwares. You can remove such errors by registry cleaning. See this article for the solution : Windows Can Not Find svchost.exe

Trouble 2 :

Explorer restarts when USB hard drive accessed . – Prateek

Fix:

This kind of problem is faced when there is something wrong with the file system or there is some virus in the pen drive. To fix it, first do scan disk and after this to remove virus, see this article: Computer Restarts On Inserting Pen Drive

Trouble 3 :

I am very badly facing this issue GENERIC HOST FOR WIN32 SERVICES error, and
when i click on Don’t send the internet does not work at all. – Nasir

Fix:

See the solution in this article : Generic Host Process For Win32 Services Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close

Trouble 4 :

I am running windows vista 32bit. My display settings keep changing from 1360×768
pixels to 800×600 pixels on its own . can you please help? – Rodney

Fix:

Screen resolution usually changes when you run an application that needs to change screen resolution. Typically when you play a game or run some display intensive application, the resolution changes. This is a problem with the application you are running. For solving this issue, you need to ensure that the graphics driver and DirectX version is correct. See the below articles to files the same: Flickering Graphics While Playing Games and Display Resolution Degraded

Trouble 5 :

I am using Windows XP by mistakenly I disables Administrator account. Now i have
only guest account. Please help me to enable admin account. – Rohith

Fix:

You can upgrade your limited account to Administrator account using this article : Get Administrator Rights In Windows Limited Account and Reset Administrator Password In Windows

Trouble:

Some of our readers have faced this issue when their computers just restart when ever they connect a specific memory card, USB drive or any other portable device. This is quite a serious problem which is on the other hand simple to fix if this is happening due to corrupted data on your USB Storage Device

This problem of computer restart on inserting a USB storage device can be due to following reasons :

1. The first reason behind this is some virus infection in your pen drive which is causing your computer to get restarted when it gets connected to the active USB port, you can easily stop computer restart on USB pen drive insert

2. Second reason behind computer restart on pen drive getting connected may be your USB storage device has data which is corrupted or the duplicate data on your drive causing exceptions and making windows computer restarting.

For the first case, see the solution at : Computer restarts on inserting USB pen drive

If its the second case with you and your USB storage drive has corrupted data, read on the solution below.

Fix:

In order to fix a removable drive if the data on the drive, you can run scandisk in windows by right clicking the drive icon in my computer, go to right click on pen drive and select properties, now click the tab tools and run a check disk on your pen drive.

As shown in the image above, you just need to click on check now to start disk checking and repair any errors caused due to corrupted data on your pen drive.

There are lots of bad viruses worms and Trojan’s traveling around with you in your USB pen Drive many times. The USB Pen Drive viruses cause all sorts of problems to your computer. We have recently written an article about top 10 USB pen drive problems and solutions. But there are more than that.

One of our readers reported

Whenever I Insert my USB Pen Drive in My Computer, it restarts the computer in one minute.

Now that is a really annoying situation. As is said that prevention is better than cure, read these tips for avoiding such situation. And read on the fix for cure to this problem.

Fix:

First of all, lets see the reason

Why Computer Restarts on Inserting USB Pen Drive?

The reason is simple, once some virus has infected the pen drive and has created autorun entries, it can run any-kind of task through auto-play feature.

So to fix it, we first of all need to Disable Autoplay on all removable drives. See this tutorial for the same.

After this, Insert the pen drive, do not open the drive or double click on it, simply insert it. Now its time for some cleaning by removing Virus created autorun entries, see this tutorial for removing autorun entries.

That is it, its done. But if you still face problem with the drive, see this tutorial to take data backup from the drive and after backup, format the pen drive. We hope you find it useful.
