Trouble 1 :

I click on Internet Explorer, it goes to open then immediately closes and the only way I can surf the Internet is with Firefox. Is there a way of fixing this problem?  – Stan

Fix:

Internet Explorer crashes sometimes due to corrupt or malicious add-ons or some other file corruption problems. You can either disable the add ons or Uninstall Internet Explorer and Install it again.

Fix:

One of our readers Errol submitted a Problem saying:

SVCHOST is using 100% of memory. However, every time I kill the the program it come back.

If you open Windows task manager by pressing shift+ctrl+esc key, and go to process tab, you will see numerous tasks with name as SVCHOST as you can see below:

Some of these maybe viruses or softwares that you no longer use. In this article we will tell you a way to see the svchost process details so that you can check whether that is something suspicious running on your computer.

Fix:

To know the details of SVCHOST, you can download a small and free utility from Sysinternal called the Process Explorer. Download and run Process Explorer here.

You will see the Peocess Explorer window like one below:

Click on View > Select Colunms

Check the Command Line Option and press Ok.

After this you can see the details of the Applications running using SVCHOST as seen in the snapshot below (click to enlarge).

The command line Column also shows the location of the file which is being executed. Thus you know what applications are actually running and which is eating up all the CPU usage. Once you know that, you can un-install or disable the culprit application from startup using this article to Remove Windows Startup Applications.
