First of all, we recommend you to use a strong password containing upper case, lower case, numbers and special characters and avoid predictable passwords.

If you have forgot your password or if your gmail account has been changed by someone, you need to access the below link and submit your gmail id at Gmail Password Reset Page. Gmail will send you an email address which you have saved as your alternate email id in your gmail settings.

You will be asked to enter a text which is shown on next screen.

The email you receive will have the instructions to reset the password using the answer to the secret question you have answered while creating gmail account.

In case you have no access to the alternate email account or you have not entered any alternate email id, then in that case you need to go to Gmail Online Password Reset Form.

In this form you will be asked some basic details related to your gmail account and Gmail account creation date. So note down your gmail creation date in case you might need it in future in case you forget it. This will help you reset the Gmail password.

A friend of mine called me up saying that Gmail is not opening on her computer. I asked her to check the hosts file , she did the same but did not find anything wrong there. I asked her to clear the cookies and try opening Gmail in HTML mode, but of no use.

Her PC is infected by some trojan which is causing this erratic behavior by preventing Gmail from opening in Standard as well as HTML mode. She needed to urgently access Gmail account for sending some important documents to her university.

Then an idea clicked me and it worked, well it was not a permanent solution, but a temporary solution that helped her send the email.

Fix:

Well, the solution is pretty simple, I asked her to open the mobile edition of Gmail by using address m.gmail.com instead of www.gmail.com which is full desktop version. And it worked for her, she was able to access her inbox and compose a mail and send it. There is also an option to search mails using mobile version.
