This time, for a change, I want to share a problem I am myself facing for last couple of days. Firefox starts to hang whenever I open Gmail Inbox. It is really a pain when I am so addicted to Gmail and Firefox both. The strange thing is that Microsoft Internet Explorer is working comparatively better with Gmail.

See the Snapshot below, whenever I click on Inbox, the CPU usage shoots to 100 % and Memory usage is already higher than normal.

Lets see the work-around to save ourselves from such hangs.

Fix:

As per the information I gathered, this may be due to some compatibility or programming level issue with Gmail, which Google might have implemented. Also Firefox 2.0.0.13 has been recently released. But the problem is unlikely due to newer version of Firefox as many users are facing such problems even with older version of Firefox.

There is no straight way in which an end user like you or me can fix it. So the way out is not to use Gmail with Firefox for some time till either Firefox or Gmail changes their applications to run with each other well. Use Gmail in Microsoft Internet Explorer or Opera browser etc.

So Mozilla and Google techies, I am sure you must be working hard to resolve the issues.

For rest of us, we are waiting for updates in Gmail or Firefox.

Update:

Till the time Google guys or Firefox developers do some thing one of the reader amanda suggested a very simple solution which solves the problem, the solution is to clear the browser cache by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Del.

Thanks Amanda
