We received an email from one of our readers asking":

Ho to get rid of the Suggested Site button in Internet Explorer?

By his question, I felt that he is bothered about the place it consumes in the header of the Internet Explorer. You can see that it takes some space as shown in the snapshot below:

In this article I will tell you a quick tip to hide the bar to increase the visible area in Internet Explorer.

Fix:

The fix is really simple, just right click at the side of these buttons, it will show you some check options like this:

Just un-check the Favorites Bar option as highlighted in red above. This will hide the entire favorite bar row hiding the Suggested Sites Button. If you want it back, simple check the setting again and it will come back.

Trouble 1 :

I click on Internet Explorer, it goes to open then immediately closes and the only way I can surf the Internet is with Firefox. Is there a way of fixing this problem? – Stan

Fix:

Internet Explorer crashes sometimes due to corrupt or malicious add-ons or some other file corruption problems. You can either disable the add ons or Uninstall Internet Explorer and Install it again.

See these articles for detail:

1. Internet Explorer Crashes With Message “Iexplore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close”

Trouble 2 :

My laptop uses 100% CPU when I try to open any folder. And it does not show any thing. Computer almost hangs. Does not respond to any thing at all. – Gireesh

Fix:

This usually happens due to some virus or some other malfunctioning application. See this article to solve the problem : SVCHOST Using 100% CPU and Memory

Trouble 3 :

my pc displays a message windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\hal.dll – Usha

Fix:

hal.dll is an important file needed for Windows. See this article to solve hal.dll problem –

Hal.dll is Missing or Corrupt in Windows

Trouble 4 :

I have dell d800 latitude laptop and that is protected with the admin password and i don’t know the admin password can you help me how can i removed the admin password ? – Adnan

Fix:

To reset the windows admin password, see our article on : Forgot Windows Password – Reset Windows Password.

Trouble 5 :

When I download a video the video plays but the screen remains dark. I can hear the video but cannot see anything. – Steve

Fix:

The problem seems like either graphics problem or codecs problem. See the two solutions below:

1. Can Not Play Video In Windows Media Player

2. Install Graphics Cards For Windows

Trouble:

One of our readers reported a problem with windows Internet Explorer, according to him suddenly at any time Internet Explorer closes abruptly with a message box which says

“Iexplore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience”

If you click the Click here link at the bottom of the message box, error signature information that is similar to the following error signature information may appear:

App name: Iexplore.exe
App version: 6.0.2800.1106
Module name: Mo030414s.dll
Module version: 1.0.0.0
Offset: 000294cc

The signature may also list one of the following files instead of the mo030414s.dll file:

M030106shop.dll, M030206pohs.dll, Mdefshop.dll, Moaa030425s.dll, Moz030715s.dll

Fix:

This problem occurs because one of the following third party browser helper objects (BHO) is installed on your computer:

• BuyersPort

• Morpheus

• Morpheus Shopping Club

• WURLD Shopping Community

So you need to uninstall these browser helper objects from your Internet Explorer in order to resolve the IE crashing issue.

Follow the step by step procedure given below to uninstall these browser helper objects:

How to uninstall the browser helper objects:

1. Start >> Run and type iexplore

2. Go to Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons

3. A “Manage Add-ons ” dialog box will appear.

You can click the “Show” pull-down to only Show Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer, or all add-ons used by Internet Explorer.

4. A list will show each add-on’s name, publisher, status, type, and file related to the add-on.
5. To disable an add-on, select the add-on then click the “Disable” radio button at the bottom left of the window.
6. Click “OK” when done.

Updated: on 23th May 2008
