Few days back, on my new laptop, I faced problem in yahoo voice chat as the mic was not taking any input. As a result I could not do Voice Chat using Yahoo Messenger.

The microphone not working with yahoo messenger, its a problem with the setup of Mic Input source selection and speaker output selection in most of the cases. In this post we will tell you the solution to this problem.

Fix:

Yahoo Call Setup Wizard

Open Yahoo Messenger Window, goto Actions > Call Setup as seen below:

Now follow the step by step instructions, and select the input and output source from the drop down menu on the setup screen until the microphone and speakers are working properly with this wizard.

Yahoo Audio Prefernces

Go to yahoo messenger main window , Messenger > Preferences > Calling & Audio

In this setup, select the microphone input from the dropdown, and similarly the speaker settings.

After selecting the proper input and output, the voice char worked just fine with me. Hope it helps you solve your problem.
