<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This usually happens because of the start menu items settings. These settings may be altered by some virus or malicious script.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Let us see how this can be fixed in a few simple steps.</p>
<p><span id="more-252"></span></p>
<p><strong>Fix:</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Follow the steps below:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>1. Right click on task-bar and click properties, this will launch the <strong>Taskbar and Start Menu properties window.</strong></p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/rightclicktaskbar.jpg"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="209" alt="right click taskbar" src="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/rightclicktaskbar_thumb.jpg" width="210" border="0"></a> </p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>2. On this menu, click on <strong>Start Menu</strong> tab as shown in image below. Click on <strong>Customize</strong> button. This will launch <strong>Customize Start Menu Window.</strong></p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/taskbarproperties.jpg"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="431" alt="taskbar properties" src="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/taskbarproperties_thumb.jpg" width="379" border="0"></a></p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>3. On this <strong>Customize Start Menu, click on Advanced tab. </strong>In start menu items check the option <strong>Run command.</strong></p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/enableruncommand.jpg"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="400" alt="enable run command" src="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/enableruncommand_thumb.jpg" width="379" border="0"></a></p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>4. Click on apply and ok. Now you can see the run prompt as below</p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/runcommandenabled.jpg"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="299" alt="run command enabled" src="http://www.troublefixers.com/wp-content/uploads/images/RunCommandButtonNotVisibleinStartMenu_13993/runcommandenabled_thumb.jpg" width="379" border="0"></a> </p>
<blockquote></blockquote>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Done !</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Update:</strong> we have just received some comment in this post where a user says he is still not able to see run command in start menu.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If the above procedure is not working then you can try pressing Window + R to open run and type your command, and if does not work then your Run is disabled by system security policy or by some virus. </p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So first make your system virus free by updating your anti virus and run a fresh scan it might help.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p>
