One of our readers submitted a problem as below:

I have installed Nokia PC Suite 7.0 on my laptop. Then I download and installed the update file through Nokia PC Suite which is 35 MB in size. I don’t know the location where the file is downloaded in my laptop because it is automatically saved and installed. I want to know the location of that file where it is downloaded so that I become able to reuse that update file.

Many such applications will give a an update notification, then will download the softwares in background in a temporary location, and will then install the updates. In this post we tell you the way to locate the applications and save them so that you can install them on other computers or just save them for later use.

Fix:

Any software application which is installed by downloading full installer is saved in the “temp” location of the windows. This folder varies for Windows Vista and Windows XP, but there is an environment variable declared by default which you can use to open the location directly.

To access the location:

Go to Start > Run , type “%temp%” and press enter, this will open the temporary folder for your user on Windows.

Here you can locate the software installer downloaded by the application.

Note: Some softwares do not download full installer, this trick may not work for such softwares.
