Your method #2 worked for me! I had to also do the second section to find the installation. My problem started after loading a number of high priority Vista patches and security updates from the Windows Update site.

I cannot use your methods 1 or 2 because my motherboard has one of the ide pins broken, so I cannot use my vista installation dvd. I hoped there was another method like to boot from a system floppy disk.

I tried to boot up from my Vista DVD but it hangs up before it even gets to 2. I press any key to boot from DVD and it shows bar with comment ‘loading files’. once its done this it goes into the start screen – small windows logo and then it hangs up. please help

i cant use method one or two because i dont have a recovery disk, mine came preinstalled. i need help on this i have been using my ps3 for all of my internet needs and i am starting to need some improtant files and would love some help so if anyone has anything usefull it would be much appresheated.

For those without access to a recovery disk, try ebay.

For those without access to a DVD drive, see if MS have the boot repair tools on their website and create a bootable USB drive to perform the repair.

mr garrete vista computers usually come pre installed u will not get a boot cd u should back up them
