Go to add remove programs and select “Add Remove Windows Features”, there you may find an option to remove IE.
I’ve followed the steps and looked at diffrent websites, apparently the IE 8 is an update, and to remove it completely has cased me problems. I’ve uninstalled the IE8 through the update section in programs on windows vista. But still when I click the icon, the IE8 still works.. This is not uninstalled, need help. Love fire fox hate, IE8. not use having both!?
Please help, thanks…
Hi,
Those procedures above do not completely uninstall IE8. If you want to do this, After following the procedures above, you need to go into Add/Remove Windows Components for Windows XP, or Turn Windows features on or off for Vista/7. In XP, this is under Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs-Add/Remove Windows Components. In Vista and 7, it’s under Control Panel-Programs and Features-Turn Windows features on or off. To do this in Vista 7, go into Turn Windows features on or off, and scroll down the checklist until you see the checkbox for Internet Explorer. Uncheck the box. Confirm that you want to uninstall it from Windows. Also, this may prompt you to restart your computer. Keep in mind that Windows may still push out updates for IE8, just make sure you don’t try to install them. Can’t remember if this is the case or not, but good luck!!
Here’s a even better one,
I’ve just did a fresh install of Windows Vista on my laptop, which is an alienware, through the Vista System CD they provided. However during the proccess of automatic updates, Internet Explorer 8 Failed to install properly, and now It will not update, remains in the Update que, prevents further updates from occuring.
I have tried the advanced removal procedures that had me delete regestry keys, use “FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c “cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart”
” in CMD.EXE under adminstrator, and been through the control panel, under programs, its not there, under updates, its not there, under Programs and Features or Windows features it doesnt show there. I am at my wits end. Where do i go from here? Appreciate the help in advance.

how to unistall IE8 in windows XP SP2, if it fails to unistall by control panel and add remove menu, during uninstallation it reboots the system and does not uninstall.
