This still has NOT solved my similar problem. The drive does not appear in ‘My Computer’ but i can go into the drive using ‘cmd’ and see the contents as well. I can see the drive in Disk Management and also did change the drive letter but still not seen in My Computer. I started having this problem after I hibernated and then removed the pen drive while it was hibernating. Any clues? Xp with latest updates.

Dear Friend, Did you check your pen drive’s format. Is it NTFS or FAT. Try to keep the same format as your operating system. If nothing seems to be working go to Disk management by right clicking my computer and going into manage then select your pen drive and right click to go into explorer mode. Work as it is. That is what windows means.

Great: I assigned my usual pendrive letter to something else. And I was unable to see the drive.
Now after this its fine.

Had the same problem. I changed the drive letter, but it still did not work. Then I tried removing the drive letter completely, unplugged USB drive, then plugged it back in, assigned it the default drive letter, and now I can see it in the “My Computer” folder. Weird.

Hi,

I just got a 64MB flash drive about a week ago.

I had been using it through Windows and linux with no problems but today it started acting up. It doesn’t show up in linux or mac and in windows I get the error
“The disk is drive F is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?”

The first weird thing is that it’s shown as only 8MB. The second is that the format always fails.

I have tried using Active Kill Disk to delete everything on the drive but that doesn’t seem to do anything.

Nothing is working.. Anyone have any ideas? I’d like to get this thing working again.

Regards
Jessica

both my pendrives stopped working after i used them in one of my office pc. they simply do not get detected when i insert them into my computer, i have also tried other computers. tell me, if my pendrives are damaged? can they be repaired?

Rohit says, October 23rd, 2008

@deepu

this is exactly what happened to my friend’s pen drive. This happens due to a faulty computer’s usb port. a faulty port can apply over-voltage to the pen drive and the pen drive might have burned-out the internal circuit. try get is replaced in warranty, but they may deny to replace it.
