Microsoft has bundled Microsoft Internet explorer 10 with the the Windows 8 OS which is their latest operating system. Like with many new stuff, things may not work properly in the first go. In this article, we will talk about some of the typical problems faced related to Videos with IE 10 on Windows 8. Some of the typical problems include Videos not loading at all or sometimes videos load as just black screen or freeze while playing. There can be multiple reasons behind this problem, lets look at them one by one and troubleshoot this problem for you.
Since video playback in a browser requires many components like flash, Silverlight, java etc. any of these extensions or components may be causing the problems. In some cases, even the hardware acceleration feature in the browser may also cause troubles. Lets look at the possible ways to fix such issues.
You can start with enabling the ActiveX controls in IE which maybe blocking the videos from playing. You should also update the version of Flash Player, Silverlight and Java which might be one of the blocking issues that prevent proper video playback in the browser.
Check if the required add-ons are enabled. These add-ons include Shockwave Active X Control, Shockwave Flash Object, Microsoft Silverlight, Java-plug in and Windows media player etc. To check for the enabled add-ons simply go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage add-ons.
If it still does not work, stop the hardware acceleration by going to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Accelerated graphics and select the option “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering”.
Also if it does not work for you, then you should check the graphics drivers for your computer and update them to the latest version as graphics problems might be closely related to the installed driver softwares.
