Trouble:

It is quite a common problem that Windows Explorer hangs. Windows explorer hangs due any reason like heavy memory resource hogging programs and or any other windows problem. It will give a warning saying

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

You can restart your windows explorer when it goes to not responding state and continue to work as usual.

Let see how can you restart windows explorer windows process ( Explorer.exe ) and continue working when its got hanged.

Fix:

Follow the procedure below to restart windows explorer

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to start task manager

task-manager

2. Click the Process tab and locate Explorer.exe

explorer-process

3. Right click on Explorer.exe and select End Process Tree ( after clicking end process tree you will see nothing other than task manager )

end-process-tree

4. Now Click on Applications tab, and click the button which says New Task

new-task

5. Type Explorer.exe and press Enter or Ok button

create-new-task

You will see the windows explorer coming back with all the programs intact which were previously running, in most of the cases this procedure can save a lot of time and effort.

We this could be helpful to you. :)

My problem with my Windows Explorer is that it will not paste a file, that is either copy or cut. It was all do to virus and spyware. I got rid of them using AVG and Advance System Care I followed the steps here and now it works. But is really fixed for good and the problem will not come back.

Forgot to say when it would not paste, it would just stay busy forever, until you click to close it. Now a messege would pop mup with three choices restart windows explorer, close program and wait for program to respone. The best choice would be to restart so there would not be a blank screen with no desktop icons. But the problem would still be there.

As I say again did relly fix that problem on Windows Explorer and will not happen out of a sudden again.

IF it does not fix Windows Explorer, and I still can’t paste a file I either copy or cut, because it is still not responing and always stay busy unless you end it. Of course a messege would pop up with three choices restart windows explorer, close program and wait for program to respone. How do I really fix it so that it suddenly happen even after following the steps here. Before when I had virus and spyware and maybe malware also, it Windows Explorer would not respone when I choose copy or cut. It would just stay busy already. Now it just on paste.

I would like to know how to fix it so will not happen again in a easy way. I’m no techie at all.

Confused! PLEASE HELP :( August 15, 2010 at 4:42 pm

My problem is, that every time I’ve tried to access something on my documents & everything inside that (music, videos, pictures, etc..) an error message has come up saying “Windows explorer is not responding” and then another saying “Windows explorer is restarting”.
This happens continuously on a loop whenever I try to access, and it’s really annoying!

I’ve looked at lots of different sites and none of their advice has helped.. e.g. the task manager new task/end process stuff, and I’ve got all the updates needed. I’ve also run a Norton scan and everything seems to be okay.

I don’t know whether to run a system restore, however I don’t know whether this will delete files such as pictures, music and video??? Also I’ve never done it before and am not sure how :S!

SOMEONE PLEASEEEEEEEEEE HELP ME!!! :(

Here’s what I get – any suggestions: Windows Internet Explorer is not responding; Page cannot be displayed Diagnosis Problem; Preparing to install McAfee even though it’s installed already; Update Error; System is low on virtual memory; Last browsing sessions closed unexpectedly; Acronsis Manage Machine Service is not available; Run Time Error; Abnormal Program Termination; I tried to download Mozilla, FireFox and Google and was told for each one that the file is corrupt; the screen will start flickering and then kicks you out of everything; it will just completely close you out of what you are working on and then you get the Diagnosis Problem message.
