Trouble:

We got a mail from one of our readers saying “My computer starts in safe mode only, how to make it boot into normal mode“.

Cause of the problem?

This type of behaviour can occur, if you install Norton Antivirus 2001 on your windows XP computer.

Let’s see how can we fix this trouble.

Fix:

In order to solve this issue, disable the auto-protect feature of Norton AntiVirus 2001.

Follow these steps after disabling auto protect:

1. First restart your computer as expected it will boot Safe mode.

2. Open Start >> Run and type “msconfig”(without quotes) and press Enter.

3. Click the radio button which says Selective startup.

4. On the Static VxD tab, click to clear the NAVAP.VxD check box,and click OK.

5. Click on the Startup tab, now click to clear or uncheck the Norton Auto Protect check box, click apply and then ok.

7. Restart computer, it will now boot up in normal mode .

We this helps to fix the trouble, but still if your problem does not solve leave a comment at the bottom of the post.

I was on vista home basic and it was booting into safe mode and it wouldnt ask me if i wanted to boot into normal or safe mode. So I typed msconfig in the search box and then under the tab boot I think checked off the option that said safe boot. It was checked for some odd reason
