my name is lawrence and i am using window vista.this is 1st time i am getting problem with pc to pc calling and pc to phone on yahoo messanger. the problem is that my microphone dose not detect by yahoo messanger software.if any one help me to solve this problem i will thankful to him/her

I am having the same problem and it isn’t detecting my mic. It does in the call setup but it isn’t in the preferences to select the mic. so I can not use the mic to chat with. anyone?

When using void chat. My microphone is not working. I can hear them, but they cant hear me. My headphone is ok. I know. What else could be the problem?? The above procedures i did.. Pls reply.. -jena

I’m having weird problem with my mic as well. When i try to use voice chatting option it says ” my microphone input device is being used by another program. please close that program first inorder to use ur microphone.” I cánt figure out what other program is using my input device i have tried every possible way to find it out. but couldn’t. So if any of you can help em to resovle this problem i’ll really appriciate. Thanks.

I am experiencing erratic voice service on Yahoo Messenger lately. Nothing has been changed in my setups and 3 of my computers can’t access the voice server. Everytime I try to call computer… I get a prompt . After a while it will reset and tells me try again and again. It is only happening lately for a week now. Can someone give me some advice to fix it or is it the Yahoo Server Site that is having problems?

hello im haveing the same problems on 2 comp i can not get voice in chat rooms i can hear on pc to pc calls but can not talk back i have did call up asstainces and it says it was suscuful so it should be working but is not
has tried removeing my audio hard wear and reinstalling it but did not work
tried redownloading yahoo it did not work ither i tried doing the restore it did not work i need help plz help ty

If your Device is being used by another program…ummm …If you are using one of those free after rebate modems…it may have carpserv.exe it comes with the software. That seems to interfer with voice. But I don’t know how to fix it. Sorry I can’t help more…but i am guessing it is that carpserv and I can’t remember the modem it comes with BUT check to see what programs are running and I think you will see it there. ctrl alt delete.

I have voice chat thru Yahoo messenger 9.0 with frnds, but recently I was not able have voice chat and it propmted that me that other person voice is not wrking and same message at my frnd chat window.
at call we r able to see the mic voice level flcutating but for speaker its not.

Thanks a lot setting up the Audio settings in messenger prefrences has worked (Just remember if the system default is not working even if the same name, change it to what works)
For example my system default was showing “AK5370 system default” and if you click the drop down there was just “AK5370″ listed, I selected that and it worked. Thanks cheers………..

I just bough a USB headset (a4tech hu-200) i do not encounter any problems with pc to pc calls thru yahoo messenger (ican hear them and the person i am talking to could hear me fine), however if i call my husband, pc to cellphone, he cannot hear me but i hear him perfectly.

what is the possible reason behind this? I also tried using different USB ports, but to no avail. I also restarted my pc, nothing happened. same problem

Calling & Audio button is not present in my Yahoo messenger.I downloaded the latest version of Messenger,but the problem still existing.So ican’t able to voice chat with others.Kindly do the needful immediately.

Another problem with messenger version 9, is it auto adjust the mic recording level and locks it so it cant be adjusted from system properties … so it you bust out laughing or something the when you talk afterwared nobody can hear what your saying … There is an option above ^^ the says do not modify my mixer settings (advanced) but this option does not appear to exist for version 9? any help on making the this setting with version 9?

I have problem with the above yahoo messenger.
when I try to select call set from action menu it fails to open.

I tried to select “calling & audio” (prefereces sub menu item of messenger main menu) the cursor immediately turns to watch glass mode signaling as busy.

Why this is happening please help as i cannot test my micro phone and speakers

i am using windows 7 brand new hp laptop. voice is detected if i open voice setup before the call. but when i place a call and the call is answered and i open voice assistance it stops detecting. im pretty use its a yahoo meesenger program problem. anyone here can help me out will be appreciated.

My friend is having problems hearing me when we call each others computer. There’s a lot of static and echos. I had the latest version of Yahoo Messenger, but I switched back to version 9 because I hoped it would kill the audio problems. Now my friend has version 10 and when I call his computer he says he only hears every other word I say. I am so confused why this is happening because we never had a problem until one week ago. Is it us or Yahoo?

yes, this problem might be because of yahoo server problem sometimes, but if this problem is persistent, it might be a hardware problem with your microphone also.
test your mic with sound recorder software, or test it on other applications like gtalk and skype
