[Solved] Fix Cannot Pin Programs To Taskbar or Start Menu In Windows 7 or 8

There are some windows users who faced this problem when they were unable to pin programs either to windows taskbar or start menu, as when they right click a program it did not showed the options “Pin to Taskbar” and “Pin to Start Menu” in right click context menu.

After searching about this problem there are multiple solutions which you can follow the solve this problem in your version of windows, as per the reports we have got this problem occur most of time in windows 7 but it can occur in windows 8 as well.

This windows problem could occur when the registry keys responsible for this feature got corrupted due to some third party software or some virus which happen to cause some changes in right click context menu in windows or there could be some other reason behind this problem.

Another common cause of this problem could be due to the when users tweak windows to remove arrow symbol on shortcut icons or you can also try this better method to remove arrows on shortcut.

Fixes For Cannot Pin Programs To Taskbar or Start Menu

Method 1: The first method to fix this problem is by repairing the registry keys and system settings to solve this issue, for this you will need to open and type the following command and press enter.

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

After command run is successful, restart your system and it should fix your problem

Method 2:

If the above method 1 doesn’t fix this issue, then you can fix it using windows registry

Open Run prompt again under start menu >> run and then type regedit in RUN and press Enter as shown in the image below.

One the registry editor is opened. Navigate to following key path

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In right-side pane, there should be a DWORD value NoStartMenuPinnedList.

If you find it, delete it. Restart or log off and your problem will be solved

METHOD 3:
